View full detailsThe smokers we sell that are built in the USA come in three types: the Twin Eagles 304 stainless pellet grill and smoker from Southern California, Primo oval ceramic kamados from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Fire Magic Legacy charcoal smoker grills. Pick pellet for hands-off BBQ, a kamado for long cooks on a small load of charcoal, or a Fire Magic Legacy for a charcoal smoker built into your island. Compare every US brand in our guide to made in USA grills, or browse all luxury grills.
Shop by smoker type
Every smoker on this page does low and slow cooking with real wood smoke, but each one gets there a different way. The right pick depends on how hands-on you want to be, which fuel you like, and whether it goes in an outdoor kitchen island or out on the patio.

A stainless pellet grill for less than Twin Eagles. Included here for comparison, not because it is US-built.
Twin Eagles builds its 36 inch pellet grill and smoker from 304 stainless steel, inside and out, in Southern California. It is made for an outdoor kitchen. You can buy it as a built-in head for an island or on a deluxe cart, with or without a rotisserie.
Choose Twin Eagles if you want a US-built pellet smoker that matches a stainless outdoor kitchen and you would rather set a temperature than tend a fire. It needs a 120V outlet. The built-in model needs a 34 1/4 inch wide island opening.

Primo makes oval ceramic kamados in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The company was founded in 1996 by George Samaras and has been owned by Empire Comfort Systems since 2019. The oval shape is what makes it a strong choice for low and slow cooking.
Primo comes in four oval sizes: Junior 200, Large 300, XL 400 and XXL 500. For smoking a whole brisket or several racks of ribs, the XL 400 or XXL 500 gives you the most room. Each size comes as a grill only for an island, an All-In-One with a cradle and side shelves, on a steel cart, or on a cypress table.

The Fire Magic Legacy smoker charcoal grill is a 304 stainless charcoal cooker made in the USA. It comes in a 24 inch and 30 inch built-in, plus 24 inch patio post and in-ground post versions.
Pick the Legacy if you want charcoal and wood flavor for BBQ in an island next to your gas grill. The 24 inch built-in gives you 432 square inches of grilling space. Fire Magic covers its charcoal grills for five years, with one year on the charcoal pan, charcoal grid, thermometer and ash tray.

Memphis pellet grills are here because many shoppers compare them with Twin Eagles for outdoor cooking, but they are not built in the USA. Memphis says its grills are designed, engineered and tested in the USA, and production is currently overseas. If a US-built pellet smoker is a must, choose Twin Eagles.
The Memphis Pro ITC3 has a 180°F to 900°F range, an 18 lb dual hopper so you can load two pellet flavors, and 848 square inches of cooking space. It costs about half as much as the Twin Eagles. The Elite is the step up from the Pro. Read our Twin Eagles vs Memphis comparison for the full breakdown.

We do not carry offset or cabinet smokers made in the USA right now. If you want a stick burner, these US brands build heavy steel cookers and sell them direct or through their own dealers:
A Yoder or another stick burner needs its fire fed through the cook and works best freestanding in the yard. If you want wood smoke flavor in an outdoor kitchen instead, a Primo with wood chunks or a Fire Magic Legacy is the closest built-in option we offer.
For your first BBQ cooks, chicken thighs, pork ribs and pork shoulder forgive small temperature swings. Save brisket until you know how your smoker holds heat. Write down each cook, the wood you used and the times, so you can repeat the recipes that work.
Hickory and oak suit beef and pork. Apple and cherry are milder and work well with chicken and fish. On a kamado or Fire Magic Legacy, add two or three wood chunks to the charcoal. On a pellet smoker, just pick the pellet flavor.
Use a probe. Pulled pork is ready around 195°F to 205°F internal, and brisket is ready when a probe slides in like butter. For BBQ recipes, rubs and more cooking ideas, browse our BBQ guides.
A smoker pairs well with a gas grill in the same island: smoke the ribs while you grill sides on gas. Our team builds free 3D outdoor kitchen designs. Yes. It comes with a charcoal tray insert so you can burn lump charcoal and wood chips, with a Charcoal mode on the controller.
