High End Grill Brands: Which Luxury Grills Are Worth It?

Luxury grill brands are the names you see in high-end outdoor kitchens: Kalamazoo, Hestan, Lynx, Twin Eagles, Alfresco, Fire Magic and a handful of others. They cost more than a typical gas grill because of what is inside: heavier stainless steel, burners covered for life, and parts you can still buy in 15 years. This guide sorts them into tiers, shows where each one is made and who owns it, and explains which are worth the money. To shop the brands we carry side by side, see our luxury grills collection. If American manufacturing matters to you, start with our made in USA grills page.
The top luxury grill brands are Kalamazoo, Hestan, Lynx, Twin Eagles and Alfresco, followed by Fire Magic, American Made Grills, DCS, Wolf and Viking. Most of them build their grills in the USA. For US-made quality at a lower price, look at Artisan, Delta Heat and American Outdoor Grill, which come from the same factories as Alfresco, Twin Eagles and Fire Magic.
How We Tier Luxury Grill Brands
There is no industry durability score for grills, so we sort brands on four things you can check yourself: the steel and burners, the warranty, where the grill is built, and what it costs. Below each brand we carry, we list three current products, all 36 inches or wider, so you can compare grills at the size most outdoor kitchens use. We sell many of these brands and design outdoor kitchens around them, but the tiers below follow what competing dealers, owners and search results agree on, not just what we stock.
- Top tier: statement grills with the heaviest builds and lifetime coverage on the parts that matter.
- Luxury workhorses: proven high-end gas grills with long track records and wide parts support.
- Entry luxury: US-made grills from luxury factories at a lower price, with shorter warranties or fewer features.
- Premium, not luxury: well-built, mostly imported grills that cost less and are often confused with luxury brands.

Which Grill Brands Share a Factory?
Several luxury grill brands are owned by the same company or built on the same production line. Knowing the family tree helps you find the same build quality at a lower price, or understand why two brands feel alike.
Alfresco and Artisan
Artisan is built by Alfresco in Southern California from the same 304 stainless, with the same ceramic briquette heat system. Alfresco adds the smoker drawer, included Sear Zone, more powerful burners and lifetime coverage. Our Alfresco vs Artisan guide goes line by line.
Twin Eagles and Delta Heat
Twin Eagles builds Delta Heat as its lower-priced line, and both have been owned by Dometic since 2021. Delta Heat keeps lifetime coverage on the stainless main burners and housing; Twin Eagles adds the hexagonal grates, the Eagle One flagship and more configurations.
Fire Magic and American Outdoor Grill
RH Peterson Co. makes both. Fire Magic is the luxury line with cast stainless burners and Diamond Sear grids, and American Outdoor Grill is the simpler, lower-priced line built in the USA by the same company.
Lynx and Viking
Both belong to the Middleby Corporation and are based in Greenwood, Mississippi. Lynx is the outdoor specialist with the Trident infrared burner; Viking is better known for indoor ranges and carries a much shorter burner warranty.
Kalamazoo and American Made Grills have no sister brand; they design and build their own grills from start to finish. Hestan keeps its lower-priced line under its own name, Aspire by Hestan.
Luxury Grill Buying Guide: Features That Matter
Price alone does not make a grill luxury. This buying guide covers the features and build quality that separate the high-end grills above from a good mid-range gas grill, so you can compare grills from similar brands on the things that last.
Construction and Material Quality
Material quality is the first thing to check. Luxury brands use 304 stainless steel for the body, hood and burners, and that construction is where most of the durability comes from. Cheaper grills often use 430 or 201 stainless steel, which can rust near salt air or pool chemicals. A magnet sticks to 430 stainless but not to 304, so it is an easy test in a showroom. A brushed stainless finish should look the same on the hood, the panel and the inside of the firebox.
Burners covered for life
The burner is the part that wears out first. Most top-tier brands cover the stainless burners for life; entry luxury brands cover them for 15 years or more. If a high-end gas grill only covers its burners for a few years, ask why.
Cooking Features: Infrared, Sear and Rotisserie Burners
Nearly every luxury brand offers an infrared grill burner or sear zone for steakhouse crusts on meat, plus a rear infrared burner for rotisserie cooking. Check whether it is included or an add-on, because it can add as much as $1,000 to the price on some models.
Cooking Space in Square Inches
Width tells you what fits the island; square inches tell you how much cooking you can do at once. A few examples from the grills above: the Alfresco ALXE 42-inch has 1,036 square inches in total, the AIPG 42-inch has 987 square inches, the Memphis Elite ITC3 has 1,275 square inches, and the Napoleon Prestige PRO 825 has 1,245 square inches. If you cook for big groups, compare grills on total cooking space, not just burner count.
Temperature Control, Smoking and Taste
High-end grills give you more ways to control temperature and add flavor. Ceramic briquettes and radiant shields vaporize drippings, which adds taste and cuts flare-ups. Alfresco builds a smoker drawer with its own burner into every grill, and the AIPG adds a wireless meat probe that reports temperature to an app. Memphis pellet grills run from 180 to 900 degrees, so one grill can work as both a smoker and a searing grill. If you want real wood-smoke flavor without buying separate smokers, look for these features first.
Made in the USA, with parts support
Most luxury brands build in the USA, which usually means faster parts and support for years after you buy. See all American made gas grills we carry.
Natural gas or propane, ordered right
Every brand above sells natural gas and propane versions. Natural gas is what most permanent outdoor kitchens use, and converting later can mean a factory kit. Our natural gas vs propane guide covers the choice.
How to Pick a Luxury Grill Brand for Your Outdoor Kitchen
- Set the grill budget first. Under about $5,000 for a 36-inch grill, look at entry luxury. From $5,000 to $10,000, the top tier and workhorses open up. Above $10,000 you are into flagships and hybrids.
- Decide how you cook. Rotisserie and smoke point to Alfresco. Live fire points to AMG or Kalamazoo. Pure searing power points to Fire Magic, Twin Eagles or Lynx.
- Check where it is made. If US manufacturing matters, use the table above.
- Check burner coverage. Lifetime is the norm at this level.
- Plan the whole island. Each brand makes matching doors, drawers and refrigeration, and mixing brands rarely looks right.

Luxury Grill Brand FAQ
What are the best luxury grill brands?
Kalamazoo, Hestan, Lynx, Twin Eagles and Alfresco are the top tier, followed by Fire Magic, American Made Grills, DCS, Wolf and Viking. Artisan, Delta Heat and American Outdoor Grill are the best US-made options for less money.
Which luxury grill brands are made in the USA?
Kalamazoo, Hestan, Lynx, Twin Eagles, Alfresco, Fire Magic, American Made Grills, Viking, Artisan, Delta Heat and American Outdoor Grill all build their grills in the USA. DCS grills are not made in the USA, and Wolf does not say where its outdoor grills are built.
Is Weber still made in the USA?
Partly. Weber still makes its kettle grills in Huntley, Illinois. Weber has not said where its current Summit gas grills are built, and it describes its US-built grills as made with US and globally sourced parts.
How long do luxury gas grills last?
The warranty is the best guide. Most luxury brands cover the stainless burners and body for life, so with basic care and a cover the grill should outlast the island around it. Mid-range grills often cover burners for 10 years or less.
Who makes Artisan and Delta Heat grills?
Alfresco makes Artisan in the same Southern California factory as its own grills. Twin Eagles makes Delta Heat in California. Both are lower-priced lines from luxury factories.
Are luxury grills worth the money?
For a permanent outdoor kitchen, usually yes. You pay more up front for heavier stainless, lifetime burner coverage and parts support, and you avoid replacing a cheaper grill every few years. If you grill a few times a season on a patio, a premium brand like Blaze or Coyote is the better value.
