Echelon vs Aurora vs Choice: Which Grill Series Fits?

Fire Magic makes three main gas grill series plus the Legacy charcoal line. All of them use 304 stainless steel and Diamond Sear grids. The difference is in the burners, controls and extras.

Echelon Diamond

The flagship series and the ultimate in features, in 30, 36 and 48 inch sizes (E660, E790 and E1060). Cooking areas run from 660 to 1,056 square inches. You get quarter-inch cast stainless burners, hot surface ignition, blue backlit knobs and an infrared rotisserie burner. Pick an analog thermometer or a digital control with Bluetooth, and add the Magic View window if you want to see the food with the lid closed. Echelon grills need a 110V outlet. Aurora

The Aurora uses the same cast burners as the Echelon at a lower price, with a double-lined hood and a spring-assisted lid. It comes in 24, 30 and 36 inch sizes (A430, A540, A660 and A790), plus the 46 inch A830 gas and charcoal combo. See our A830i combo review.

Choice

The most affordable Fire Magic series, in 24, 30 and 36 inch sizes (C430, C540 and C650). It keeps the 304 stainless body and Diamond Sear grids and uses a turn-to-light ignition that needs no power. Multi-user versions are built for condos, resorts and shared patios.

Legacy

The Legacy line is now all charcoal: built-in smokers and charcoal grills on a patio or in-ground post, for real wood and charcoal flavor.

Built-In Grills or Freestanding Grills

Built-in grills drop into an outdoor kitchen island. Freestanding grills sit on a stainless cart, and post mount grills attach to an in-ground or patio post.
