Bromic Tungsten Smart Heat Patio Heaters

Why Choose Tungsten Smart-Heat

Bromic Heating built the Tungsten Smart-Heat range for output first. A honeycomb mesh face offers superior heat spread across larger outdoor areas, which is why you see these units over restaurant terraces, rooftop bars and big residential outdoor living spaces. Where the Platinum series is about a slim glass look, this one is about heat.

High-Performance Radiant Heating

The range offers high-performance radiant heating: it warms people, furniture and floors directly instead of the surrounding air, so warmth is felt within seconds with minimal heat loss to a breeze. That makes radiant heating the efficient choice for outdoor dining and lounge areas.

  • Fast warmth: heat is felt almost as soon as the unit switches on, even outdoors on a cold night.
  • Wind resistance: the gas burners are rated for reliable ignition in winds up to 8 mph.
  • Wide spread: coverage runs from about 65 sq ft on the smallest electric model to 215 sq ft on the 500 series gas heater.

Built for Outdoor Use

Every model is made for permanent outdoor installation.

  • Electric models are IPX4 rated against splashing water and ETL/cETL listed.
  • Wall, ceiling, pole and recessed mounting keep the floor clear.
  • Electric models carry a 2-year warranty on the unit and 7 years on the elements; fixed gas models carry 2 years, excluding maintenance items.

Tungsten Gas vs Electric Heaters

The range comes in both fuels, so the choice usually comes down to how open the space is and which utilities you already have.

Electric Models: 2000W to 6000W

  • 2000W and 3000W: single-element Tungsten electric units covering about 65 and 100 sq ft.
  • 4000W and 6000W: double-element units covering about 130 and 160 sq ft.
  • Voltage options run from 208V to 277V depending on the model, with no flame or exhaust, so electric units suit covered patios, pergolas and semi-enclosed outdoor kitchens.

Gas Models: 300 and 500 Series

  • 300 series: 26,000 BTU covering about 160 sq ft.
  • 500 series: 43,000 BTU covering about 215 sq ft.
  • Tungsten gas models run on natural gas or propane (LPG), suit open outdoor areas, and must be connected by a licensed gas technician. They are not for fully enclosed spaces.

Portable Freestanding Heater

For spaces where mounting is not practical, the portable gas model stands on its own base and can move to where guests are sitting. It suits event spaces, rental patios and seasonal outdoor setups.

Sizing and Mounting Your Outdoor Heaters

Size for the area people actually sit in, then pick a mounting position that keeps the heater at its minimum height.

Coverage by Model

  • 2000W: about 65 sq ft
  • 3000W: about 100 sq ft
  • 4000W: about 130 sq ft
  • 6000W: about 160 sq ft
  • 300 series gas: about 160 sq ft
  • 500 series gas: about 215 sq ft

A 12 by 20 ft outdoor dining area (240 sq ft), for example, is covered by two 4000W electric units. Add capacity for exposed, windy sites.

Mounting Heights and Clearances

  • Electric: minimum floor clearance of 72 in. when wall mounted and 96 in. when ceiling mounted.
  • Gas: minimum mounting height of 96 in. (local regulations may allow lower), 36 in. side clearance, and 36 in. ceiling clearance, or 14 in. with a heat deflector.
  • Always follow the installation manual and local code.

Smart Heat Controls and Accessories

The Tungsten Smart-Heat name means every unit works with the Bromic Heating Affinity system, so you can switch, dim and zone your outdoor heating instead of running everything at full power.

Affinity Controls

  • On/off and dimmer controllers for one or several zones.
  • Manual indoor and outdoor wall switches for simple setups.
  • An expansion board and RS232 plugin for building management and home automation systems.

Shop Affinity controllers.

Mounts, Recess Kits and Deflectors

  • Ceiling recess kits sized for the 2000W/4000W and 3000W/6000W electric heaters.
  • A suspension pole kit for hanging electric models from high ceilings.
  • 300 and 500 series low-clearance heat deflectors for gas models under a ceiling.
  • A head cover for the portable model.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which patio heater gives off the most heat?

In this range, the 500 series gas model is the most powerful at 43,000 BTU and about 215 sq ft of coverage. The strongest electric option is the 6000W model at about 160 sq ft. Across any brand, gas heaters generally deliver more output per unit than electric, which is why they are preferred for open, windy spaces.

How much does it cost to run a 1500 watt electric heater for 24 hours?

A 1500W heater uses 1.5 kWh per hour, or 36 kWh over 24 hours. Multiply that by your local electricity rate to get the cost. The smallest model here is 2000W, which uses 2 kWh per hour at full output, and a dimmer lets you run it below full power.

Is there a heater that does not need to be plugged in?

Yes. The gas models run on natural gas or propane, so they need a gas connection instead of an electrical circuit, and the portable model can be moved wherever it is needed. Electric models run on a dedicated 208V to 277V circuit installed by an electrician, not a standard household outlet.

Are smart electric heaters any good?

They are worth it if you want control. Smart-Heat electric models work with Affinity on/off and dimmer controllers, can be split into zones, and can connect to home automation or building management systems, so you only heat the areas in use at the level you need.

How much do these heaters cost?

In our store, electric models start at $798 for the 2000W heater and gas models start at $1,828 for the 300 series. The portable freestanding model is $2,431. Prices can change with promotions, and controls, mounts and installation are extra.
