Bromic vs Infratech: Which Outdoor Heater Brand Fits Your Space?

Bromic or Infratech is the question almost every customer shopping our patio heaters asks once they get past the budget brands. Both build permanent, wall- and ceiling-mounted infrared outdoor heaters, and most comparisons online are written by dealers with a brand to push. We sell both, every series, so here is the straight version: what each brand does better, five head-to-head matchups with real prices, and which one fits the space you are heating.
Bromic is the brand with options: gas and electric outdoor heaters, glass-front design models, a heater with a built-in light, and the most coverage per fixture. Infratech is the electric specialist: made in the USA, 120V to 480V, nine finishes, true flush mounting and a deeper control system, usually for less money. Buy Bromic for open, breezy spaces or when you need gas. Buy Infratech for covered, wired spaces where the heater should disappear.
Two Brands, Two Approaches to Outdoor Heating
Bromic started as a gas company and still designs for maximum heat and a fixture that looks like architecture. Infratech has only ever made electric heaters, and designs them to be installed and forgotten. Two different approaches to outdoor heating, graded on the same rows so you can read across.

Fuel Source: Gas Heaters vs Electric Heaters
This is the first question to answer, because the fuel source narrows your heating options, mounting options and heat output, and can decide the brand for you.
Bromic's gas options
Bromic offers gas heaters on natural gas or propane: the Tungsten Smart-Heat 300 and 500, the Platinum 300 and 500, and a portable freestanding Tungsten. Fixed models run 23,600 to 43,000 BTU and cover about 160 to 215 sq ft each, more than any electric heater from either brand. Tungsten gas burners are rated for reliable ignition in winds up to 8 mph. For an open rooftop, a terrace with no roof, or a large patio where heat has to push through a breeze, these gas options are the reason to choose Bromic. Infratech makes none. See all Bromic gas heaters.
Electric outdoor heaters from both brands
For electric heaters, the brands meet head on. Bromic offers five series built around looks and output; Infratech offers six built around voltages, finishes and mounting.

Only From One Brand: Heaters With No Match
The five matchups above cover the heaters most shoppers compare, but each brand also makes heaters the other simply does not offer. Bromic owns gas, portable heat and the heat-and-light fixture; Infratech owns the small 120V heater, 480V commercial power and decorative fascias. If one of these six is what your space calls for, the brand decision is already made, and you can skip straight to sizing and controls.

Controls and Smart Heat
A dimmer is the upgrade that pays off most with either brand: on a mild night, half power is plenty. Both brands now offer app control and voice control with Amazon Alexa or Google, so the real differences are how you get there and how far each system scales. Bromic runs everything through one Affinity Smart-Heat system; Infratech builds up in steps from a wall switch to whole-home automation.

Bromic Affinity Smart-Heat
One system for every Smart-Heat heater, run from the Affinity Smart-Heat app over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Ethernet.

Our take: Bromic is the simpler path to app and voice control on a few heaters. Infratech costs less for basic dimming and goes further when the heaters have to join a Lutron, Crestron or Control4 system.

Warranty
Infratech keeps it simple: one 3-year warranty on every heater. Bromic's terms change by series, with a long warranty on elements and shorter cover on the heater itself.

| Heating elements | Tungsten and Cobalt: 7 years | Inside the 3 years; rated about 5,000 hours |

| Design line | Platinum electric: 1 year on parts | Motif Collection: 3 years |
| Gas heaters | 2 years, excluding maintenance items | No gas models |
| Installation | Licensed electrician or gas technician | Licensed electrician required |

Commercial Applications
Restaurants and bars use both brands for commercial heating, often together. Bromic gas covers open rooftops and terraces, and Affinity controls zone a dining patio from one wall panel. Infratech's 277V and 480V models run on commercial building power, and flush-mounted W and WD heaters make a new dining terrace look finished rather than retrofitted. Planning a multi-heater project? Bromic and Infratech Heater FAQ
Is Bromic or Infratech better?
Neither is better across the board. Bromic is better if you need gas, a glass-front design heater or the most coverage per fixture. Infratech is better for electric-only covered spaces, flush mounting, more finishes and a lower price per watt.
Is Infratech a good brand?
Yes. Infratech has built electric infrared heaters in the USA for more than 50 years, its heaters are UL listed for indoor and outdoor use, and they carry a 3-year warranty.
Can Bromic heaters be used indoors?
Bromic designs its heaters for outdoor and semi-enclosed spaces, and gas models must never be used in enclosed areas. For a sunroom or garage, Infratech's UL indoor and outdoor listing covers it.
What kind of patio heater is best?
Match the fuel to the space: an electric infrared heater for covered patios and pergolas, and a gas heater for open, windy areas that need maximum output.
Is a ceramic or infrared heater better outdoors?
Outdoors, infrared. Ceramic convection heaters warm the air, which a breeze carries away. Infrared warms people and surfaces directly, which is why both Bromic and Infratech use it.
Do Bromic and Infratech heaters work with Alexa or Google?
Yes, both. Bromic Affinity Smart-Heat controls work with Amazon Alexa and Google Home through the Bromic app. Infratech heaters work with Alexa and Google Assistant through the Infratech Smart Wall Switch and Smart Wall Dimmer in the Bond Home app.
Which costs more to run?
At the same wattage, electric heaters from both brands cost the same to run: a 4,000W unit uses 4 kWh per hour. Gas cost depends on BTU rating and your gas or propane price.
