Infratech Heater Series: C, CD, W, WD, SL and Motif

The brand builds three outdoor heater series plus a slimline and a decorative line. They share the same elements and electronics; the differences are depth, element count and looks.

• C-Series (single element): the slim 2.5-inch-deep surface-mount heater, in 33, 39 and 61.25-inch lengths from 1,500W to 4,000W. The 33-inch 1500W model is the only 120V plug-in option in the range and covers about 25 square feet; 61.25-inch 3,000W to 4,000W units cover 64 to 100 square feet.
• CD-Series (dual element): the same 2.5-inch profile with two elements, 3,000W to 6,000W, for 64 to 121 square feet per heater. Choose CD when you need the most heat from one surface-mounted unit.
• W-Series (single element): a 3-inch-deep housing built for flush-mount and recessed ceiling installs, in the same lengths and wattages as the C-Series. Pair it with a flush-mount frame for a heater that sits level with the ceiling.
• WD-Series (dual element): the recessed version of the CD, 3,000W to 6,000W, including a 48-inch 5,200W model for ceilings that cannot take a 61-inch unit.
• SL-Series (slimline): a narrow single-element heater in 29.5, 42.5 and 63.5-inch lengths (1,600W to 4,000W) for modern pergolas and tight soffits where a standard housing would look heavy.
• Motif Collection: C and CD heaters with laser-cut decorative fascias in Traditional, Contemporary, Craftsman and Mediterranean patterns, in black or stainless steel, 2,000W to 6,000W in 39 and 61.25-inch lengths, with marine-grade versions for coastal homes.

Rule of thumb: pick C or CD if the heater mounts on a wall or an exposed beam, W or WD if it will be recessed into a finished ceiling, SL for narrow spaces, and Motif when the heater is part of the design.

Choosing Volts, Watts and Amps for Your Infratech Heater

Every heater in the range is built for a specific voltage, so the first question is what your panel can supply. Watts set how much heat you get, volts set which circuit it runs on, and amps (watts divided by volts) set the breaker size your electrician will install.

• 120V: only the 33-inch 1,500W C-Series and W-Series heaters. They draw 12.5 amps and run on a dedicated 20-amp circuit, which makes them the easiest first heater for a small porch.
• 208V and 240V: the residential standard. A 3,000W heater draws 12.5 amps at 240V; a 4,000W heater about 17 amps; a 6,000W heater 25 amps at 240V (about 29 amps at 208V). Plan on a dedicated 20-amp circuit for 3,000W, and a 30- to 40-amp circuit for 6,000W, sized by your electrician to local code.
• 277V and 480V: commercial voltages for restaurants, hotels and multifamily buildings, where several heaters share a panel and the lower current per heater keeps wire sizes down.

Sizing by space: about 25 square feet per 1,500W, 49 per 2,000W, 64 per 3,000W, 100 per 4,000W, and 121 to 144 per 6,000W, mounted at the heights in the manual. Count the seats you want warm, not the whole patio, and plan one heater per seating zone. Two 4,000W heaters spread across a 12 by 16 foot dining area will outperform one 6,000W heater in the middle.

Where Infratech Heaters Work Best

Because they are UL listed for indoor and outdoor use and need less clearance than gas, Infratech outdoor heaters go places other patio heaters cannot:

Infratech Controls, Mounts and Flush-Mount Frames

The heater is half the system. Infratech's switches and controls range from a weatherproof duplex stack switch for one heater, through analog and digital dimmers and timers, to the Universal Control Panel and home-management relay panels that run six or more zones from one location or a phone. A dimmer is the upgrade most customers thank us for later: on a mild evening a 6,000W heater at 50 percent is plenty, and it halves the running cost.

Customers often cross-shop Infratech with Bromic heaters, and both are excellent. The short version: Infratech is electric only, made in the USA, offers more voltages (120V to 480V), more lengths and a true flush-mount option, and its control system is the deepest in the category. Installation, Parts, Manuals and Troubleshooting

Plan the circuit and control location before ceilings are closed, keep the clearances in the installation manual (they vary by model and mount), and have the work done by a licensed electrician. Each product page carries the current manual and spec sheet. The factory supports its heaters for the long haul: replacement quartz elements, end caps, switches and control components are available for current and older models, and most "heater not turning on" calls trace to a tripped breaker, a failed switch or a dimmer wired for the wrong voltage rather than the heater itself.
