View full detailsMost Bromic Smart-Heat electric heaters run on an Affinity Dimmer or Affinity On/Off control. Gas heaters use the On/Off control only. Eclipse heaters need their own Eclipse controller. Use the chart below to match your heater, then pick the channel count for the number of zones you want.
On this page
Every Affinity channel is a zone you switch or dim together. Each channel carries up to 6 kW on 208V to 277V circuits, so the number of heaters per channel depends on wattage. These figures come from Bromic's published Affinity compatibility chart.
| Bromic heater | Heaters per channel | Affinity On/Off | Affinity Dimmer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum Smart-Heat Gas 300 and 500 | 10 | Yes | No |
| Tungsten Smart-Heat Gas 300 and 500 | 10 | Yes | No |
| Platinum Electric 2300W, incl. Marine Grade | 2 | Yes | Yes |
| Platinum Electric 3400W and 4500W, incl. Marine Grade | 1 | Yes | Yes |
| Tungsten Electric 2000W | 3 | Yes | Yes |
| Tungsten Electric 3000W | 2 | Yes | Yes |
| Tungsten Electric 4000W and 6000W | 1 | Yes | Yes |
| Eclipse Smart-Heat 2900W | 1 | Affinity Eclipse On/Off control only | |
Cobalt electric heaters are not on Bromic's chart, but the Affinity Dimmer listing names Cobalt as supported. Call us to confirm channel counts before ordering for a Cobalt project.
Start with how you want to use the heaters. Want full power or nothing? An on/off control does it. Want to turn heat down on milder nights and save power? Choose the dimmer. Do you just need a wall switch with no app? A manual switch covers that for less.

Affinity On/Off Control

Affinity Eclipse On/Off Control
The Bromic Affinity On/Off is the only Smart-Heat controller that runs gas heaters, and it also switches every electric series. Choose it for Tungsten or Platinum gas models, or for electric heaters you only ever run at full output.
The Affinity Dimmer adds variable output to electric heaters, so you can run at part power instead of full blast. On a mild night that keeps guests comfortable and trims electricity use. It has the same single, dual and five channel options, and two channels give two independent zones, for example the dining table and the lounge.
Eclipse heaters combine heat and LED light, so they use dedicated Eclipse controls rather than standard Affinity units.
For a simple setup, Affinity manual switches switch heaters at the wall with no app or Wi-Fi. All are rated 20A on 120V to 277V.
Affinity smart controls connect over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (about 30 ft range). The free Bromic app sets timers, schedules and zones and can manage more than one site. It also works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home voice commands. Affinity has no physical handheld remote, so the app, voice or a wall switch does the job.

Smart-Heat Link RS232
The Smart-Heat Link connects Affinity controllers to a home automation system over RS232. Your installer supplies the 5V DC adapter and the DB9 cable. The expansion board is for commercial sites that run heaters from a building management system.
The Bromic ceiling mount pole drops Tungsten and Platinum Smart-Heat gas heaters from high or vaulted ceilings to the right height. Every length is $368. Poles are black steel, 3 in. in diameter, weigh 8.8 lb and are made in Australia.
Ceiling height minus 16.6 in. minus pole length should leave 8 to 10 ft of floor clearance. For example, a 12 ft (144 in.) ceiling with the 25.4 in. pole leaves 102 in., or 8.5 ft.
Bromic accessories mount electric heaters flush in the ceiling or hang them lower. Gas heaters use deflectors so they can go closer to the ceiling.

Platinum Recess Kits

Tungsten Recess Kits
Recess kits set the heater flush in the ceiling for a clean, built-in look. Platinum kits are sized by wattage. Low clearance versions suit shallow ceiling cavities. Marine Grade kits match Platinum Marine heaters on coastal homes and boats. Tungsten kits come in two sizes: one for 2000W and 4000W heaters, one for 3000W and 6000W.
Suspension kits hang electric heaters below a high ceiling. For Platinum heaters there are 23.6 in. ($394) and 47.2 in. ($523) tube kits for 2300W/3400W or 4500W models. Marine Grade versions cost $632 and $818. Tungsten electric heaters use the suspension pole kit ($489 to $500).
On Tungsten gas heaters, a 500 series or 300 series deflector reduces the required ceiling clearance to 14 in. Keep a portable heater protected between uses with the Tungsten portable head cover ($111).

Get expert help Shop Bromic heatersA heater controller switches or dims one or more outdoor heaters from one place. Bromic Affinity controllers group heaters into channels, or zones, which you run from a wall switch, the Bromic app or a voice assistant.
With an Affinity Smart-Heat controller, yes. You can set timers and schedules in the Bromic app so heaters switch off at a set time. Heaters on a manual wall switch stay on until someone switches them off.
No. Tungsten and Platinum gas heaters work with the Affinity On/Off control only, up to 10 heaters per channel. Dimming is for electric models.
Each channel handles up to 6 kW on 208V to 277V. That is one 4000W or 6000W Tungsten, two 3000W Tungsten or three 2000W Tungsten heaters per channel.
No. Affinity controls run from the Bromic app, Alexa, Google Home or a wall switch. Eclipse heaters have their own remotes, including the Eclipse Master Remote.
